Devil is in the Details
The individual who painted everything in our house brown should really buy me a drink when this is all through.
I abandoned this project about a year ago and now that I have some free time on my hands, decided to dive back in to ridding the banister of layers and layers of brown paint in order to set the beautiful wood beneath it free.
My mom volunteered some of her time this weekend to help me apply paint stripper, scrape it off, apply it again, scrape again. Sand, scrape, repeat. A little heat gun action in between. It takes forever. It's a job to do with a partner or a podcast, otherwise you'll quickly lose your mind.
We're getting there and I hope the results will be worth the effort. No turning back now, though, so we'll just keep scraping away.
If you're interested, here are the tools I'm using for the project:
- Wagner 0503008 HT1000 1,200-watt Heat Gun
- Klean-Strip KS-3 Premium Stripper
- Hyde Tools 10400 Molding Scraper
- Stainless Steel Wire Brush
- A kitchen knife
- A toothbrush
- Paint scrapers
